I have a microsoft lifecam and it has a clear pic but the colors are not as true as they could be, type of light bulb may have some effect on the colors as well. Yogi has a Logitech Orbit MP that has really good quality. Not sure if that particular model is still made, but its a good one.

alot of the time people think that it is their camera but most times it is the lighting affecting the camera view...if you goggle it there are some useful links with advice about web cam lighting

Better lighting will make almost any webcam look better, and it's cheaper than getting a more expensive cam.
If you were to look at buying a better cam, I'm also a fan of the ones from Logitech.

Okay, now I know so much about webcam lighting that I don't know anything....my mind is thoroughly blown by all that information. In a good way! If I can save up some money by not buying a new web cam right away it would be great....thanks, guys/gals!

I just have an inexpensive ($40) Microsoft Live Cam and it's very blurry all the time! My pics could be so much hotter if there were more detail, and it would be more fun to cam if the other people have a better view. I don't want to spend more than $150 at the present time. What do you recommend?
Id reccomend the Microsoft Live HD cam, can be bought for under 150 at any best buy..great video and pic clarity.

So many of the webcams today do not have the ability to focus. They use one setting for everything so if you get too close it's out of focus. Maybe you have a focus ring and you just didn't notice it. You can also use a small camcorder, but the cabling to your computer is sometimes tricky. What I would do if you really want to get a new one is buy one with the ability to return it if it doesn't give you clear video. Ask before you buy.
